Lucky you if you are getting new shrimp! In particular, shrimp sent via (express) courier service need to be acclimated slowly and carefully to their new environment. The transport is stressful to them even if they are well packed in a styropor box and breathing bags. Generally spoken, one should always use the dripping method to acclimate new invertebrates.
Experience shows that it is even better to quarantine the newly arrived shrimp for a few days in a separate tank with a mixture of transport and fresh water. This fresh water might be tap or prepared osmosis water. It’s advantage is that there are few; speak nearly zero bacteria population in the water. If you use water of your tank, the shrimp come in touch with new and unknown bacteria population and have to acclimate.
The quarantine tank should have no gravel but some hiding places and filtration. After 3 days do a water change of 20-30% and add 10% water of your target tank. Repeat this procedure twice any third day and add 20% and finally 30% tank water. After 12 days, you can accommodate the shrimp to 100% tank water using the dripping method.
