I was taking a walk in the palace garden in Bruehl, where I live, yesterday. The palace is surrounded by water and a small creek goes to the moat of the palace. There, I have found four Orconectes limosus hanging around. This species comes from North America and is Neobiota (invasive species) in Germany. It can bring crayfish plague to European crayfish.
We even have a creek full of Guppies (Video) in the nearer surrounding of Cologne. The Guppies have been released 30 years ago by some hobby fish keeper. The creek water is actually warm even in winter because a power plant releases used cooling water.
Please do not release any living organisms from any other countries into the natural areas of your home town!
